One page, every plug. Print it, tape it above the charger, and check it the next time you buy a pack or a charge lead. The current ratings on the sheet are the ones the connector makers themselves publish. Where a maker publishes nothing, the sheet says "not published" instead of copying a number from a battery seller's blog. For the longer explanation of each connector type and when to convert, read our guide to RC battery connector types.

Read the rating right: the number in a plug's name is not its amp rating. Amass rates the XT60 at 35 A. Ratings depend on wire gauge, and every rating below is the maker's own figure under its stated condition. "Not published" means the maker gives none.
A. Connectors, small to large
| Shape | Connector | Looks like | Maker's rating | Common on |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| JST PH 2.0 | Tiny 2-pin, 2.0 mm pitch | 2 A (JST PH datasheet, AWG 24)* | Micro crawler packs | |
| JST XH (balance) | White multi-pin, 2.5 mm pitch; pins = cells + 1 | 3 A (JST XH datasheet, AWG 22) | LiPo balance leads | |
| XT30 | Small yellow, one bevelled corner | 20 A (Amass, XT30U, 16 AWG) | Small packs, chargers | |
| XT60 / XT60H | Yellow, bevelled corner; H has a sleeve | 35 A (Amass, 12 AWG); 30 A black nickel XT60H | Aftermarket 2S–4S packs | |
| XT90 / XT90H | Large yellow XT shape | 45 A (Amass, XT90H) | Large 4S–6S packs | |
| EC2 / IC2 | Small blue Horizon plug | EC2: 20 A (16 AWG), 15 A (20 AWG), E-flite. IC2: not published | Small Horizon models | |
| EC3 / IC3 | Blue, two round bullets | EC3: 60 A continuous (E-flite). IC3: not published | Axial SCX10 III, many 1/10 Horizon trucks | |
| EC5 / IC5 | Large blue, 5 mm bullets | EC5: over 120 A continuous on 10 AWG (E-flite). IC5: not published | Big Horizon bashers | |
| Deans-style T-plug | Flat T-shaped blades, usually red | Not published (WSD lists 0.10 mΩ only) | Older and aftermarket packs | |
| Traxxas High-Current (iD) | Traxxas-only shape | Not published | Every current full-size Traxxas | |
| Tamiya | Rectangular, latch on top | Not published | NiMH packs, toy-grade cars |
*JST's figure is for genuine JST PH contacts on 24 AWG wire. Spektrum sells its micro plug as "PH 2.0 (High-Current Ultra Micro)" and publishes no rating of its own.
B. Which plug does my truck use?
| Model | Battery plug (maker's wording) |
|---|---|
| Traxxas Slash (all current) | Traxxas High-Current; iD on BL-2s and VX3 |
| Traxxas Stampede (all current) | Traxxas High-Current |
| Traxxas Maxx | Traxxas High-Current, one 3S or 4S pack |
| Traxxas X-Maxx | Traxxas High-Current, two identical packs |
| Traxxas TRX-4M | Traxxas iD (TRX-4M module only) |
| Axial SCX24 | PH 2.0, 2-pin |
| Axial SCX30 | JST PH2.0 2P |
| Axial SCX10 III | IC3 (EC3 or IC3 pack) |
| Redcat Ascent-18 | JST (type not stated) |
| Arrma Granite / Senton 223S, 3S BLX V3 | IC5 (V3 page: "IC5, EC5") |
| Arrma Granite MEGA, Boost | IC3 (EC3 compatible) |
| Arrma GROM family | IC2 |
| Arrma Kraton 6S (V5, V6) | IC5; one 6S or two packs |
C. Compatibility
- IC3 accepts EC3; IC5 accepts EC5. Smart features need Smart on both ends (Horizon).
- IC2 is NOT compatible with EC2 (Horizon).
- Traxxas iD chargers read iD packs automatically; non-iD packs charge in manual mode (Traxxas).
- Adapters: a stopgap for the charge lead, not the drive connection. Traxxas's VX3 manuals say no adapters when charging iD packs.
D. Before you solder
- One wire at a time. Never let bare battery leads touch.
- Positive to positive. Confirm polarity with a voltmeter if unsure (Horizon).
- Heat shrink every joint.
- Go up a size when power goes up, never down. Horizon: preinstalled plugs "do have power limitations".
- A plug that comes off hot, discolored or loose is done.

How to read the sheet
Table A runs from the smallest plug to the largest. The "Maker's rating" column is deliberately strict. Amass makes XT connectors and Horizon Hobby's E-flite brand makes EC connectors, so those numbers come from them. JST publishes datasheets for its PH and XH families. Traxxas, Spektrum (for IC plugs) and WSD (for Deans) publish no amp figure that we could find, so the sheet says so.
That strictness changes some numbers you may have seen. Plenty of charts treat the "60" in XT60 as 60 amps. Amass's own page says "35A MAX" with 12 AWG wire for the XT60 and XT60H, 30 A for the black nickel XT60H, 20 A for the XT30U and 45 A for the XT90H. Those are rated figures with a stated temperature rise, and Amass gives no burst number on those pages.

Sources for every rating
| Connector | Published figure | Source |
|---|---|---|
| XT30U | 20 A max (16 AWG) | Amass XT30U |
| XT60 | 35 A max (12 AWG) | Amass XT60 |
| XT60H | 35 A max (12 AWG); black nickel version 30 A | Amass XT60H, black nickel XT60H |
| XT90H | 45 A max | Amass XT90H |
| EC2 | "20A continuous current with 16-awg wire"; 15 A with 20 AWG | E-flite EC2 |
| EC3 | "Capable of 60 continuous amps" | E-flite EC3 |
| EC5 | "more than 120A continuous current with 10-awg wire" | E-flite EC5 |
| IC3 / IC5 | No rating; "compatible with EC3 and EC5" | Spektrum Smart battery page |
| JST PH | 2 A AC/DC (AWG 24) | JST PH datasheet |
| JST XH | 3 A AC/DC (AWG 22) | JST XH datasheet |
| Deans Ultra Plug | Resistance 0.10 mΩ; no amp figure | WSD Deans |
| Traxxas High-Current | No amp figure on Traxxas connector pages | Traxxas Battery Basics (iD explained) |
Horizon's battery safety document adds the caveat that matters more than any rating: its preinstalled connectors "do have power limitations", and if you run a battery in a setup that exceeds them, replacing the connector with a better-rated one is on you (Horizon Lithium Battery Safety 54892).

How we filled in the truck list
Each row of table B comes from that model's current manual or product page. Traxxas lists "Traxxas High-Current Connector" on every current Slash and Stampede page, and on the Maxx and X-Maxx pages, and its BL-2s and VX3 manuals call it the "Traxxas iD High-Current Connector". The TRX-4M is the odd one out. Its pack plugs straight into the ECM-2.5 module, and Traxxas's manual says not to change the battery or motor connectors and to use the module only with the included Traxxas iD pack.
Axial's SCX24 parts lists describe the stock 350 mAh pack as "w/ PH2.0 2pin Power Connector". The SCX10 III takes "EC3 or IC3" packs. Arrma's spec tables name IC5 for the 3S and 6S bashers, IC3 for the brushed Granite MEGA and Boost, and IC2 for every GROM; the older V3 pages list "IC5, EC5". Redcat's Ascent-18 manuals say only "JST" without naming the family, so the sheet says the same. If your model isn't listed, the battery lead coming out of the ESC tells you, and so does the box-contents table in the manual.

Model battery pages go deeper on fit, with tray dimensions from the manuals: Traxxas Slash battery, TRX-4M battery, SCX24 battery, X-Maxx battery and Arrma Kraton 6S battery.
Adapters or re-soldering
An adapter lead is fine for getting an odd pack onto your charger. For the battery-to-ESC connection, it adds a junction that carries full current, and one more place to work loose. Standardize instead: pick one plug that's rated for your heaviest truck and convert everything else once. Traxxas owners have an extra reason to think twice, because Traxxas's VX3 manuals say to charge iD batteries only on a Traxxas iD charger and "DO NOT use an adapter of any kind".
The companion sheet is the LiPo voltage chart, with full and storage voltages plus cutoffs for 1S to 8S. Shopping for packs? The best RC car batteries are sorted by connector and cell count, and our beginner charger picks list which leads come in the box.
